Day 1
On arrival in Sydney, met and spend 2 days recovering and exploring this
beautiful city.
Day 2 - 4: Payne Station
Flight to Adelaide on Qantas schedule flight and connect to 11am to Wudinna.
At Wudinna you will be met by either Geoff or Mick Scholz and take a stunning
drive from this remote town into the outback to your accommodation on Payne
Station a 500, 000 acre property in the middle of the stunning Gawler Ranges.
While a guest with Geoff and Mick in the Gawler Ranges you will see an abundance
of Australian wildlife and magnificent scenery in this 1500 million year
old Range. Explore Lake Gairdner the huge Salt Lake and witness the unbelievable
contrast of the ice like surface and the blood red sand dunes. Travel the
outback tracks down to the secluded haven of Bairds Bay and cruise out into
the bay in the 40 foot Investigator. Alan and Trish Payne will introduce
you to the locals allowing you the opportunity to swim with the sea lions
and dolphins an amazing interaction with totally wild creatures. After all
that activity relax on the boat with a spot of fishing for the local delicacy
of King George Whiting and enjoy a seafood meal.
(For a real adventure, take a private air charter out along the great Australian
Bight, witness the longest line of sea cliffs in the world and the magnificent
rugged beauty before arriving at Nullabor. In this isolated stretch of Australian
coastline between May and October Southern Right Whales migrate to give
birth, and it is one of the worlds great experiences. On the return journey
fly across the vast dunes and see the Dog Fence the longest fence in the
world and if you are lucky spot a wild camel or a dingo.)
Day 5 - 7: Kangaroo Island
An early start to catch the 7:30am flight from Wudinna to Adelaide. Arrive
in Adelaide at 8:55am and transfer to the 9:25am flight to Kangaroo Island.
Arrive in Kangaroo Island at 10:00am and transfer to your accommodation
on the Stranraer Property. Here your hosts will be Graham and Lyn Wheaton.
Enjoy their great hospitality and learn about the Island and its heritage.
Wander around the 3500 acre property and enjoy the tranquility of this unique
setting.

Kangaroo Island boasts a third of its land mass to National Parks or Conservation
Parks and in the absence of introduced rabbits and foxes, native wildlife
thrives. The Islands diverse landscapes provide habitat for sea lions, fur
seals, endemic kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, platypus, goannas,
243 bird species (many rare or endangered), possums, bandicoots and at certain
times of year, whales.
Day 8
Transfer to the Kangaroo Island airport to catch the 10:15am to Adelaide.
Upon arrival in Adelaide you will be met by Leigh Eldredge a local winemaker
and take the scenic drive down to Thorn Park in the heart of the Clare Valley.
Day 9
Leigh will escort you through the valley and allow you an in depth insight
into its history and proud tradition. Be privy to some of the most noted
winemakers and sample their delights. Your host at Thorn Park will be Michael
Speers and David Hay. Enjoy the splendid food and the wonderful views, in
the setting of their magnificent home.
Day 10 - 11: Arkaba Station
Transfer by road after breakfast to Arkaba Station, you will travel through
the wine district, then onto the fertile plains of the mid-north before
arriving into the pastoral area that preludes the final leg into the mighty
Flinders Range. Leigh will tell of the areas history on this fascinating
road trip. Your hosts at the 60,000 acre property of Arkaba Station will
be Dean and Lizzie Rasheed. Nestled in the shadow of the Elder Range and
alongside the huge dish of Wilpena Pound, Arkaba offers a great variety
of wildlife, horse riding and aboriginal heritage. Here you can learn about
the early pioneers and pastoral industry. Take a hike or search for the
elusive and rare Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby. Otherwise simply put your feet
up and relax savoring the surrounding landscapes, especially at sunrise
and sunset.
Day 12
An early rise to catch your charter plane to Pt Augusta, to connect with
the flight from Pt August to Adelaide before boarding the Qantas scheduled
flight to Alice Springs. Arriving in the heart of the Australian Outback
you will be met by your Hosts Bill and Jan Hayes, 6th generation cattle
station owners on Deep Well Station. Here you will have the opportunity
to travel the 450,000 acre property, either by custom designed 4wd, horse
back or on foot. Join in a cattle muster or explore the East McDonnell Range
and its ancient landscapes. Here it is possible to wander in previously
unexplored country, find a waterhole or just relax and enjoy the vastness
of the Australian Outback.
Day 13
You will travel to Uluru (Ayres Rock) to visit one of the most recognizable
features of Australia. Your private charter will take you on a scenic flight
through the Outback and give you the opportunity to see the canyons and
inspiring features of the "Red Centre".
Day 14
At Deep Well Station.
Day 15
Catch your plane either to return to Sydney or travel on for more adventure
or relax and dive on the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. |
