What Will My Safari Cost Me?

The costs for a safari varies dramatically according to the type of safari you choose. In other words, you get what you pay for.

However, to give you a general idea for a typical "off the beaten track" safari at 2009's prices, based on four people traveling, you may expect to be paying - all inclusive in country - about $750 per person per day in Kenya, $900 per person per day in Tanzania, $750 per person per day in Uganda, and $900 per person per day in Botswana - all estimates are based on a group of 4. This would include everything in Africa, except tips, visas, health and of course personal items. At this sort of price, you are staying in smaller places that sleep a maximum of 6 to 12 clients, and flying everywhere in charter aircraft. In Australia and Argentina you would be looking at $650 per person per day. The US $ continues to slide, so prices are continually rising for us abroad. Please understand there are so many variables that your trip may come in more... or even less!

Remember, when making comparisons with some of the brochure trips, be sure to count the number of days actually on safari! Of course it is possible to go less expensively if you use the bigger tourist lodges in the game parks, and drive between places. The luxury mobile tented safaris may cost even more than this, depending upon group size! As you can see, it is necessary to finalize an itinerary before we can give you exact pricing.

We hiked, my daughter ran with some Maasai, we fished, we camped out and we luxuriated at private ranches. We rode horses and camels, discussed African environmental issues with people who were involved with same, were guests at two different villages-each quite different, but both welcoming, and we saw more animals than we ever could have hoped to see.
